A baking debacle🙃😕😭😱😩🙅‍♀️

There is a saying “Too many cooks spoil a broth”.I would like to change it and say there is no need of too many cooks.A single cook can too spoil a broth 😜😜😜😜😜.

The wacky cake 🎂

Recently I had posted a blog “A WACKY CAKE 🎂👆👆👆. It was an insight to my baking skills to some extent. When I joined this “GASTROMANCY CHALLENGE “,I was indeed very happy to submit a recipe of my choice🤪🤪🤪. It made me confident to the core.

But,there is always a story behind every recipe and a dish we cook or bake.It cannot be perfect always.There can be goofs ups even when you become experienced to some extent.This write-up of mine is also a “GASTRO GOOFS”. So the name implies what I would want to convey in this write-up.

This so called “WACKY CAKE” was undoubtedly a favourite recipe for everyone in our family. But once while baking this cake, it had its own whims and fancies to throw at and end up as an angry brown hot lava from a Mt Volcano. I have experienced this happen twice or thrice.

Once it so happened that I had to bake this cake as we had guests coming to our house. The highlight was this cake as it was a favourite among all our friends. In a casual mood I mixed the flour and all the ingredients and made the cake mix ready. Put the mix for baking with the temperature set into the oven. After sometime I saw the cake raising and was overwhelmed with joy. With other chores to be taken care I just left the cake to be baked in the set time.

The alarm buzzed once the baking was done. With an attitude of Master chef I went and opened the oven.ALAS!!!! What did I see?😌.The crust had all over cracks like it had been hit with an earthquake of 8.1 Richter scale.OMG! Slowly I pierced the crust to see a Chocolate Lava oozing out of the crust to my disbelief🫢. I slowly took out the cake from the oven.I cut a small bit to taste. OH MY GOODNESS !! The taste was altogether a different thing. It was like as if I was trying to bite a hard metal. Not all ready to bend and give in 😅😂😅😂. Perplexed by this,I started wondering what could be the reason for this goof up.

I was sure that I did each and every step correctly from mixing the ingredients properly till baking it in the oven. Time was running out and hence I had to order a cake from a bakery. With a heavy heart of reasons unknown for this massive goof up in baking a cake I started to clean the mess I had made baking this WACKY CAKE. I saw a spoonful of cooking soda in a small cup sitting and waiting to be used for baking. AHAHAHAAHAHA🙃.

So this was the major GOOF UP I had made to result in a “VOLCANO CAKE” instead of a “WACKY CAKE”. I conveniently forgot to add the pinch of cooking soda to the mix which is most important ingredient for an eggless cake to be baked.

This Cake Debacle is the submission for the “JULY GASTROMANCY GOOF UPS CHALLENGE “

Gave a slap to myself for my attitude for acting like a “MASTER CHEF” while baking the cake.😂😂😂😂😂😂.
