A DO GOODER 🤝BEFORE/AFTER📱💻🧑💻👩💻
This is a small post based on one recent post published by my friend John Rinaldo. I was inspired to write a small blog based in this .
WHAT MAKES A GOOD NEIGHBOUR?
Well, well, well, indeed a good prompt to answer. The simple reason being, we hardly find our next door neighbours to interact, irrespective of where one stays these days. Honestly I am not exaggerating from any point of view. And I must say it’s not any bitterness or anything more to add.
Believe me!!!!! There is a saying , when you are a grown up “ YOU ARE JUDGED BY THE CIRCLE OF FRIENDS YOU HAVE MADE ”. Similarly, as adults, ” WHEN YOU ARE AWAY FROM FAMILY, YOUR NEIGHBOURS BECOME YOUR IMMEDIATE KITH and KIN”. I believe in this a lot. But, this neighbour and neighbourhood concept was very much in the system till the Mobile phones, Tablet, Laptops, AirPods etc etc invaded our drawing room. I really mean this. Honestly ,No hard feelings !!!
Jokes apart, I would love to express my honest opinion on what makes a good neighbour. My reply is in two sections.
A neighbour before the screen invasion.
The second, the present era from toddler to old age people, totally invaded by the screens, social media and AI.
A neighbour before screen era , used to be an acquaintance who slowly and steadily becomes part of our family. This used to be a natural process. The moment we land in a new neighbourhood it is the neighbour who instantly starts a connect by greeting with a smile. And then the conversation kick starts in a regular basis. Anything good, bad, happy , sad they were there to share our feelings whole heartedly .The biggest advantage was that there were no screens to stare and look into their phones to avoid people. It was always a smile when you open the door or bump into someone in the lift or stairs. There used to be nosey neighbours too but no one complained. It was about adapting and adjusting to live in a society with all kinds of people.
Neighbours in the present times are the privileged ones. You have to search them in social media to find the info about them. We may get settled in the new dwelling and get used to the neighbourhood but, may not have interacted with our immediate neighbour. This is the reality. Most probably we may end up greeting our neighbour in a social media chat virtually Now that WFH is so popular and in thing in job front, we hardly get to see neighbours in the lift or in the parking lot. In a way I must say the neighbourhood is indeed with a hustle- bustle of people, guess who????. A The delivery agents of all the online apps.😃.It’s like “”KNOCK-KNOCK” who is it ? A delivery agent, not any neighbour😃. With all the above mentioned contributing factors people have prioritised their friendships and social lives too. So, it’s if we don’t feature in the so called priority list then we are out of their friendship band. Life has become a closed dome where it’s very very difficult to either intercept or interact😄 with any person( IDF KIND 😂😂😂) in a lighter vein.
No one is to be blamed for this current situation. We all ought to take equal responsibility for the prevailing situation. We can always say tons of things on how we should be as neighbour and vice versa. But, in real, To be a good neighbour or get a good neighbour we have to interact with them isn’t it???. Isn’t it too much to ask for in the present scenario??…..🤔This is my personal opinion. Not necessarily anyone who gets to read this blog has to be on the same page with me.

TO GAIN AN ACQUAINTANCE IN NEED, IS A BOON INDEED 🤣.”

Nowadays all forms of screens TV/cell/ computer/home theatre/ vedio gaming screens divide the neighborhood and not the compound walls.
These are best worst barricades between humans.
