What Is Something Everyone Should Know?
There are many things we learn as we grow. It all begins in our nursery school and continues through our college years and beyond. During these formative years—whether as students or working professionals—we constantly feel the urge to learn more. This learning not only enhances our knowledge but also helps us move ahead in our studies and careers, giving us a deep sense of satisfaction.
However, true learning does not end there. Once we step out of the comfort and shelter of academic life, we begin to understand the real nuances of living. The process of learning life’s lessons may sound simple, but in reality, it is it is one of the toughest tasks we encounter. Our emotions often tie us down and restrict us from growing and improving.
Coming to the essence of this reflection, I believe “Gratitude – Being Grateful” is something every individual should know and practice. Among all the virtues we try to cultivate, gratitude stands out as one of the most powerful and transformative. It helps us conquer one of the greatest barriers to personal growth—the Ego.
When the ego is subdued, we naturally become more compassionate, considerate, and understanding. Gratitude teaches us selflessness, and selflessness frees us from feelings such as greed and jealousy. A grateful person stays humble and grounded because they constantly acknowledge the value of what they have and the people who helped them along the way.
When we are thankful for our achievements and experiences, we never forget the ladder that helped us climb upward. Unfortunately, we often come across people for whom success and happiness go to their heads. Sooner or later, they falter—and the reason is usually ego. Ego leaves no space for gratitude. The two cannot coexist; they are poles apart.
One of the toughest tasks we encounter. Our emotions often tie us down and restrict us from growing and improving. Here’s how these two qualities contrast in the long run:
EGO → Selfish | GRATITUDE → Selfless
EGO → Thankless | GRATITUDE → Thankful
EGO → Success Goes to the Head | GRATITUDE → Keeps You Grounded
EGO → Small-minded | GRATITUDE → Considerate

I loved this 🤩 A simple yet powerful message on how gratitude shapes who we become
"Indeed, learning to be grateful is one of the most valuable lessons everyone should know."
100% agree with this. I just wish, as a generation, we made it a priority to teach people how to express their gratitude. Not to teach gratitude itself — I really believe we all have it in us when we feel seen. But society often pushes us into our shells, making it seem like expressing gratitude is a sign of weakness. I wish we could rewrite that story and genuinely help people say what they feel.
