A Rejuvenating sojournšš
Travel is always planned with an itinerary to follow to make the best of the best out of it and make it a memorable forever. But there are also some small trips which is full of pleasant surprises.
I got this chance of taking a short trip to COIMBATORE- TAMILNADU ,INDIA.
Coimbatore is popular for its beautiful weather. Surrounded by western Ghats all around to add to the scenic beauty ,this place boasts of many weekend getaways, Enriched with mountain ranges which have waterfall falling like silver cascade from distant makes it a eyesight to watch out for.
The very famous hill station,Ooty which is popular for film shootings is just 2 1/2 hrs away from this city. Owing to itās pleasant weather which is very unlikely in South India, it is popularly called asā MANCHESTER OF SOUTH INDIAā.
I had this privilege to spend some beautiful moments in this green environment. I could not make it to Ooty but not the less I could visit a place called āPalamalaiā,Pala means ancient and Malai means Mountain in Tamil. So it is an ancient hill. The route to Palamalai was simply enchanting with cool breeze smoothly blowing on your face. This breeze gives a refreshing feeling totally. You tend to breathe-in and breathe-out with all the energy in you.
We started the trip from a place Thudiyalur which is in the foot hills of Palamalai. It took 25- 30 mins to reach the top. The route had a medium hair pin bends to experience. Enroute we can trees of medicinal value and ordinary green trees at both the sides of the narrow road. This makes the journey enjoyable.I was told that when dark one can see elephants cross the roads . Hence tourists are not allowed beyond 5.00 to 6.00 pm it seems.
The car ride toward the hill top was short and fun. We reached the hill top within 25 mins. On reaching the hilltop the first thing which caught my eye was an ancient temple sitting royally amidst the never ending mountain ranges .The temple has pillars of concrete which looks magnificent and strong by all means. And also there is free lunch (Annadhanam) distributed everyday in the afternoon all 365 days it seems. Whoever visits the temple can have lunch there. Itās free. The village folk who have their petty shops, have their lunch daily here only it seems.
The atmosphere was completely a rustic rural set up with village folk busy selling their small and simple stuff outside the temple. Obsolutely a different scene to see. There were cows lazing around and calf running here and there. A gentle pat on its forehead, and the calf comes behind you.
Locals folks were very humble without touch of urban culture. In their own world, oblivious of whatās AI , SUBSTACK, WHATSAPP, FACEBOOK etc etc. The whole hill top temple is surrounded by the mountain ranges with blanket of greenery everywhere. I cannot forget to mention about the pretty girl with a beautiful smile who accompanied me to this hill top temple .A big thanks to her for the pleasant company she gave me through out.
It will be unfair to end this write-up without posting few pics in such a scenic beautiful green surroundings. š¤Ŗš¤Ŗ
