COLOURFUL VIBES -πππππ
A small observation can make an evening pleasant and enjoyable. This is not any story but a small passage .
It was an evening β hot, humid, and restless. The heat felt harsher than usual. I wondered if it was only global warming, or if the wars raging across the world were also contributing to this scorching atmosphere
Well !!!!! Scorching heat has always been part and parcel of Southern most part of India. Yet, it is always convenient to blame some other contributory factors for this relentless heat. Maybe blaming some other factor, kinda reduces the heat we feel. Human mind is unpredictable. It thinks however it wants and we fail to understand it.
Having complained enough about this torrid summer. I want to come to my story now. How much ever intense may be the heat, I make it a point to go out in the evening.
Today morning I had given my scooty for servicing . So I had to go to get back the scooty. About My scooty, she is my best friend. Her name is βDHANNOβ. She is the best companion one can ever have . She understands me and my moods perfectly.
The scooter servicing shop was not very far from my apartment where I stay.Itβs in walkable distance from my apartment. So I was out walking to get back my scooter. It was 5.30 pm in the evening, but still the Sunβ s rays were strong and very intense. I reached the shop to be told that my scooty will be ready after half an hour. So I started walking further down the road. I always keep grumbling about heat, but ,
guess what ???.
I love to drink only hot beverages even in that heat. Funny indeed!!! But thatβs in my genes I believe.
Also I have this habit of clicking whatever catches my eye while going out. Even when on scooter, I stop to click a picture, if I notice something interesting that catches my eyes.
As I was walking , a small shop caught my eye. I stopped for a moment to see the shop. It was a tea shop. The shop had the normal wooden benches which we get to see in classrooms. Just two benches were there. Simple!!!! But the simple benches were painted in shocking yellow colour. And then I noticed a wooden board at the back which was also painted in the same shocking yellow colour. On that board there was this beautiful drawing of a chaiwallah who was transferring the hot chai / tea from a big vessel to a glass. This transferring is done in a typical style in all coffee and tea shops in Southern part of India. This swift transfer brings a froth to the tea and coffee to make it more merrier to drink.
There were also drawings of persons both drinking tea and waiting for the tea to be prepared. A simple scene depicted so artistically in a street side shop. I was impressed by each and every other detail I saw in that small shop where space was restricted. There was this soft yellow lights hanging in the entrance which gave a rich look to the ambience of the shop. The vibrant colour, the beautiful drawings and the soft yellow lights gave a super rich look to the shop.
I couldnβt stop myself from complimenting the decor of the shop to the shopkeeper. The shopkeeper was a humble man in his early forties. He was wearing a dhoti and a shirt, a very rural look. But looks could be deceiving as he was the owner of this shop which was done artistically with an ethnic touch.
In all this I totally forgot about the heat and summer. I sat in that yellow bench to have a sip of hot tea in a mood to enjoy the colourful vibes the shop gave.
I never thought I would write a newsletter today. A small tea shop with a decor noteworthy was an inspiration behind this blog .

Sweet Uma, Your story was really beautiful. I liked how you noticed such small details of that tea shop. It made the moment feel very real.
And honestly, I can relate to you because I also love chai a lot. Even in hot weather, a cup of hot tea always feels comforting. Sometimes small places and simple moments give the best feelings.
Your post actually made me imagine sitting in that little yellow tea shop and enjoying a cup of chai. β
Beautifully written! Loved how you described the tea shop and those small moments.
