Dear Teenage me🙋♀️🙋♀️
In this blog I have written what and how I would like to advise my teenage self. Agreed things cannot be reversed now. A piece of advice from present me to teenage me is always interesting. Isn’t it ?
What advice would you give your teenage self ??…
Well!!!!
This is a truly a beautiful prompt.
Now that I am away from my teenage years, I can clearly understand what advice I would lovingly give to my younger self.
Teenage is a phase of rebellion. We are rarely ready to listen to advice whether good or bad. We strongly believe we are capable of deciding everything for ourselves. And honestly, that confidence is not wrong. That phase will never return. Isn’t it?
Teenage years are carefree, energetic, bold, and full of fire. We feel like theworld is in our hands. We don’t deeply think about good, bad, gratitude, selfishness, heaven, hell, or long-term consequences. We just live. We dream. We imagine.
As a teenager, I was very focused on looking good and was drawn towards glamorous careers. I dreamt of becoming an air hostess, a receptionist, a model, an interior decorator anything related to fashion and presentation excited me.
Academics? Not so much.
It wasn’t that I was a dull student. In fact, I was bright. But my heart was elsewhere. Due to my conservative upbringing, I could not pursue those dreams. That part is okay. Not all dreams are meant to be fulfilled.
But the real mistake?
I did not redirect my energy towards academics either. I did not consciously switch gears and build a strong alternative path for myself.
I was good at English. I loved writing even during my school days. Words came naturally to me. But I never recognised that as a strength. I never realised that language proficiency could shape a career. That oversight was entirely mine. No one else is to be blamed.
Today, when I look back, here is the advice I would give my teenage self:
Be aware of what truly interests you.
understand subjects.
Find what you enjoy learning.
It doesn’t have to be Science or Maths. It could be English, History, Drawing, Psychology anything that sparks curiosity. Focus. Grow in that direction.
Success is not only about dreams. It is also about clarity.
And above all strive to become financially independent. That is one of the greatest forms of empowerment a person can have.
If tomorrow I could meet my teenage self, I wouldn’t scold her. I would simply hold her hand and say:
“You have potential. Don’t ignore it.”

“Success is not only about dreams, it is also about clarity” this line alone is gold. Beautifully written
I really love this. I too was really good at English. In fact I was a tutor in my sophomore year of HS. I agree we shouldn’t stop being curious and learning no matter how old we get. Thank you for this. I too would like to reflect and answer this prompt and I will🙂🙏🏾 Thanks for the inspiration.
