Reminded of my boss - a Chief Engineer - in our local council in UK - always busy, running around - with his heavy-brick phone - which once fell ……on his foot and make him squirm!

His comment? “Why can’t they make em the size of a credit card and weighing less than 250 Grams!”

Well it eventually happened- but by then, at 74,he had retired….to a care home. And mobiles didn’t make much sense to him!

I liked the way you described flirting as a natural and fleeting human emotion rather than something negative. The Ericsson ad example made me smile too 😄 Sometimes our minds create tiny stories from just one glance, and that’s such a human thing.

Cute ad. My father had a flip phone that we could use in case there was an emergency and either my sister or I needed to contact him... which he never turned on... lol...

As a man I have been told I am dense as a rock and continually miss the flirting cues. Good essay, informative and concise.

I learned something new! I didn’t know about the Erickson phone. I like the way you described flirting and connected it to the cellular device and how we communicate. 💜💜💜 Extremely creative and well written.

Oh Dear, My first mobile i got out of my pocket money was an Erickson. Still i have that mobile, it holds lots of memories. I was the smallest mobile i have ever seen. I could easily clutch into my palms.

That's a good read !! Thanks for bringing up simple things that we miss to see.

This was a nice read Uma.

It reminded me of one cousin who would drop flirtatious compliments at the drop of a hat.

My friends would laugh him off with a playful pat on his head .

I would admonish him in private though.

Nice video.

🙂👌

Nicely said. I feel this article reflects something very natural in all of us , the way we try to present ourselves well, even without realizing it. Sometimes we seek attention, comfort, or simply want to be seen positively. That’s why this article felt like an inner voice to me. Thank you for sharing it, it genuinely triggered me to think deeper on this topic.

Indeed this is a emotion or say feelings which is within all of us

We all have that slight craving for validation in everything we do and at times a small compliment for our looks too 😄😄😄

Thanks for reading and this thoughtful comment 🙏🏿

I really enjoyed how you connected flirtation to simple moments of connection, emotion, and imagination rather than reducing it to something superficial.

This was such a fun read and you expressed it sooo well :) loved the phone analogy , took me back to days when I had a simple Nokia! Also loved your take on flirting as a human expression - in that sense I think I love to even flirt with books, my art, nature , wind, flowers :))

Hey

I tend to be very talkative and (especially as a former therapist) practice good eye contact, so I think at times men have mistaken my friendliness for flirtation. As much as it disappoints me, I now sometimes am not as friendly to men in a mixed group as I used to be. I’m not unfriendly, but I keep tighter boundaries. 🤔Good article, Uma. It made me think and that can only be a good thing!

V S Uma's avatar

Hey Deanne

Thanks for reading and commenting too

It is good to keto boundaries or else it will be difficult to handle 😂😂

The phone totally surprised me, was hidden on her hair:))) but that wasn't a Nokia, was an Ericksson. My first cellphone was a Nokia when I was 25 years old.
